Northern Cardinals are common in most backyards. They are frequent visitors to backyard bird feeders. They love sunflower and safflower seeds.
Males are red with a black mask and chin.
Females are brownish gray with reddish wings and tail.
Both sexes have a large orange cone shaped bill and a large crest.
Insects, seeds, fruits. Likes to forage on the ground.
Prefers dense shrubby areas.
Nest in shrubs.
No, prefers to build its own nest in dense shrubs or thickets.
Both Males and Females will sing.
They do not migrate.
