Holy City Birding
Pop-Up Walks

Birding happens when the birds decide—not when the calendar does.

Some of Charleston’s most memorable birding moments happen unexpectedly. A flock of Roseate Spoonbills arrives. Shorebird migration suddenly takes off. A family of owls becomes active. Conditions are simply too good to wait for the next scheduled walk.

That’s why I occasionally host Holy City Birding Pop-Up Walks.

These are small, free bird walks announced only when exceptional birding opportunities arise.

What makes them different

Free to attend

✔ Limited to just 10 participants

✔ Announced exclusively by email

✔ Locations selected based on current bird activity

✔ Led by Charles from Holy City Birding

Every Pop-Up Walk is a little different. Some may explore a familiar hotspot, while others visit parks or preserves I don’t normally use for public walks.

Why are they “Pop-Up” Walks?

Birds don’t follow a schedule.

Migration changes daily.

Weather changes bird activity.

Rare birds appear unexpectedly.

Instead of planning months in advance, these walks happen when conditions are simply too good to pass up.
