than one seeks.”

About the Founder
I’ve always loved the outdoors and the quiet beauty of nature. My interest in birds began while I was working as a PGA professional at Bulls Bay Golf Club, when I noticed a small heron fishing along the edge of a pond. Curious to learn more, I began paying closer attention to the birds around me and soon discovered it was a Green Heron. That simple moment sparked something in me a fascination that quickly grew into a deep passion for birds and the natural world.
As I began exploring birding more seriously and logging sightings in eBird, I discovered an incredible community of birders, from beginners to experts, all sharing the same joy of discovery. Birding soon became part of my daily life and inspired me to explore Charleston’s parks, wetlands, marshes, and coastal habitats, seeing the Lowcountry through new eyes. Over the years I’ve recorded hundreds of species throughout the Charleston region while continuing to learn from the remarkable diversity of birds found here.
Over time, that passion grew into something I wanted to share with others. Holy City Birding was born from a simple idea: that spending time outdoors observing birds can bring people a sense of curiosity, peace, and connection to the natural world.
Today I lead guided birding experiences throughout the Charleston area, working with visitors, families, and local organizations to help people discover the remarkable bird life of the Lowcountry. I also partner with community organizations and regularly lead bird walks in Charleston’s parks, helping people of all ages experience the joy of birding.
Whether it’s a private tour, a bird walk in a city park, or introducing kids to their first bird through binoculars, my goal is always the same to inspire curiosity, wonder, and appreciation for the world around us.
Happy Birding!
