Wood Storks are found throughout the southeastern United States, where they depend on shallow wetlands for feeding. Unlike many wading birds that visually hunt for prey, Wood Storks often forage by moving their open bill through the water and quickly snapping it shut when they feel a fish a specialized feeding technique perfectly suited to productive southern wetlands.
