Explore Charleston’s beautiful salt marsh habitat while searching for pelicans, herons, egrets, ospreys, shorebirds, marsh wrens, American Oystercatchers, Clapper Rails, and other coastal wildlife. Tours are beginner-friendly and include the use of a professional spotting scope for incredible up-close views. Pitt Street Bridge is one of Charleston’s premier birding locations, with over 245 bird species recorded. Depending on the season, you may encounter Clapper Rails, Osprey, herons, egrets, shorebirds, marsh wrens, and a variety of salt marsh specialists. The experience lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. We will meet at the park entrance, explore the oak-lined marsh edge, and walk the bridge while scanning Charleston Harbor and surrounding habitat for wildlife. Following the tour, each participant will choose a Bird Patch Hat and embroidered bird patch from our available inventory, creating a personalized souvenir to take home. A professional spotting scope will be provided, and binocular rentals are available if needed. Please wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes appropriate for the weather.
