Tour Description
Join us for a guided birding experience at the scenic Pitt Street Bridge, one of Charleston’s most productive and accessible birding locations. This easy, picturesque walk offers stunning views of Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge while exploring a rich salt marsh habitat. Pitt Street is a hotspot for birdlife, with over 245 species recorded. Depending on the season, you may see Clapper Rails, Osprey, Egrets, Herons, shorebirds, and a variety of marsh specialists. This tour is relaxed and beginner-friendly, making it a great option for anyone looking to experience birding in Charleston without needing prior experience. The walk lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. We will meet at the park entrance, explore the oak-lined areas and marsh edge, and then walk the bridge to scan the harbor and surrounding habitat. Each participant will receive a Holy City Birding patch. A spotting scope will be available, and binoculars can be rented if needed. Please wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes appropriate for the weather.
