Tour Description

We will explore Pitt Street Bridge and the surrounding habitat to find local and migrating bird species. Pitt Street Bridge provides a great opportunity to explore the salt marsh, mud flats, oyster beds and open water habitats. This location offers an easy walk along a paved pathway with incredible views of the Charleston Harbor and Ravenel Bridge. Pitt Street ranks #12 on eBird with over 234 bird species recorded. It is a great location to find Clapper Rails, Osprey, Marsh Wrens, Gulls, Terns, Sandpipers, Egrets, Herons, Oystercatchers, Seaside Sparrows and many other species! The Tour will be on foot and will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. We will meet at the entrance to the Park and explore the Oaks and salt marsh near the parking area. Then we will walk the bridge and explore the harbor, salt marsh and mud flats. Each Participant will receive a Holy City Birding Bird Patch for the current month! (Guide will have a spotting scope and one extra pair of Binoculars to pass around) Items to wear/bring: comfortable clothing for the current weather conditions, comfortable walking shoes, hat, binoculars, camera. (Max 6 participants)
